Elevate Salon + Spa cuts hair for toddlers and school age kids at 1208 Carlton Ave in Belmont, Charlottesville. Little ones get the Toddler Cut with extra time built in, and older kids get the Children's Cut with a shampoo and blow dry. Parents can stay close the whole time, and we have our own parking lot.
How do I get my toddler ready for a first haircut?
Talk about it a few days ahead, keep it light, and pick a time when your child is usually rested and fed. For a lot of families, that means a morning slot well before nap time. Tell your stylist about anything that tends to upset your child, like water on the face or the buzz of clippers, so they can plan around it. More often than you might expect. We're open until 9 pm Wednesday through Friday, which leaves room after school and practice, and Sunday from noon to 7 pm for weekend cuts. Calm, patience and nobody rushing. Appointments at Elevate are one to one, so your child's stylist is focused on them and not juggling another guest. The salon is a restored house rather than a busy storefront, which can feel less overwhelming to small kids. If your child had a rough haircut before, say so, and ask your stylist to slow down and explain each step. For older kids, having a say in the style helps them feel grown up, and a quick look in the mirror at the end lets them show off the result. Is parking easy when I'm bringing kids to Elevate?
Yes. Elevate has a dedicated parking lot at 1208 Carlton Ave, so you're not circling Belmont with a restless toddler in the back seat. The main entrance is right beside the driveway. Older kids who ride over can lock their bikes at the patio pavilion, and if someone needs a few minutes of fresh air before or after the cut, the patio is there for that.
