A Neighborhood Hair Salon in Belmont, Charlottesville

Elevate Salon + Spa is a hair salon in a restored 1924 Craftsman style house at 1208 Carlton Ave in Belmont, Charlottesville. We have cut and colored hair here since 2013, one guest at a time, and we keep appointments open on weekday evenings and Sunday afternoons. Guests come to us from all over Charlottesville and Albemarle County.

Where exactly is the salon in Belmont?

We are on Carlton Ave, tucked behind Cactus and Red Lantern, and a short stroll from The Local, Tavola and Belle Café. Look for the old Craftsman house. You can pull straight into our own parking lot, so there is no circling the block for a spot. The main entrance sits right beside the driveway.

Coming by bike? Lock up at the patio pavilion. And since dinner at Tavola or The Local is a short walk away, it is easy to turn a haircut into an evening out in the neighborhood.

What is it like getting your hair done in a 1924 house?

It feels closer to visiting a friend than walking into a storefront. The renovation kept the original character of the house, so it still reads like a home the moment you step inside. Our Guest Care Team greets you at the front desk, or you can check yourself in on the iPad. Then pick a latte, sparkling water or hot cocoa, and grab a blanket if you run cold.

Out back, the patio is yours before or after your appointment. Some guests even spend part of their service out there in the fresh air.

We book one guest per stylist at a time, so the rooms stay calm and the house keeps its quiet, homey feel even on a full Saturday.

Can I get a haircut after work or on a Sunday?

Yes. Wednesday through Friday we stay open until 9 pm, and Sunday runs from noon to 7 pm. That helps the guests who come to us from the University of Virginia, Pantops or Crozet at the end of a full day. Here is the whole week:

• Monday: closed
• Tuesday: 8:30 am to 5 pm
• Wednesday to Friday: 8:30 am to 9 pm
• Saturday: 8:30 am to 6 pm

Most people start with our women's haircut, booked by the length your hair is today. Every service opens with a consultation, so you can tell your stylist what bugs you about your hair before anything changes. One more thing about this house: it is also where Elevation Training teaches new stylists, with one to one coaching and mentoring from our team. We think of it as a place to learn and to be looked after. Your trimmings get a second life too: hair cut here is donated to Matters of Trust, which turns it into mats that clean waterways.
